How it works

How CompareCDRate.com works

We help you compare CDs and narrow your choices. You decide what to do next, and your money goes straight to the institution you pick.

  1. 1

    Compare dated rates

Our rate tables list CDs from banks, credit unions and brokerages with APY, term, minimum deposit, institution type, early withdrawal terms (where reported), and the type of source. Filter by term, deposit, and institution type, and compare up to three side by side.

  2. 2

    Plan around your date

Use the maturity planner to see when a CD would mature and estimate what it could earn, or build a CD ladder.

  3. 3

    Inquire about a CD

Select “Inquire about this CD” on a listing, or simply share your deposit range, preferred term, timing and ZIP code, plus your name, email and phone number. You don’t need a Social Security number.

  4. 4

    Hear back on your terms

We follow up with you directly with the institution details and full terms. Only if you tick the separate, optional consent box may participating providers contact you by phone, text or email. You can withdraw consent at any time.

  5. 5

    Confirm with the institution

Before opening anything, confirm the live APY, minimum, penalty, insurance and eligibility directly with the bank, credit union or brokerage. Their disclosures govern.

  6. 6

    Open, fund and track

Apply directly with the institution (or through your brokerage for brokered CDs). Note your maturity date and grace period and set a reminder.

What we don’t do

We don’t take deposits, open accounts, carry out trades, reserve rates, or give personalized financial advice. Submitting a request doesn’t guarantee eligibility, approval, or that any provider will contact you.
